Update August 11

Search operations for Mr. Lancelot Hassell continued with the deployment of specialized drones and trained search dogs. As darkness fell, operations were temporarily suspended and will resume at first light in the morning in coordination with emergency services, the Royal Bermuda Regiment, and the Coast Guard.

Today’s expanded search effort will include additional maritime assets, aerial drones, and rescue dog teams to ensure comprehensive coverage of the search area.

We remain fully committed to utilizing every available resource to locate Mr. Hassell safely.

To maximize the effectiveness of our search dogs and specialized equipment, we urgently request that all members of the public refrain from entering the designated trail areas.  Human scent contamination and foot traffic can severely compromise the tracking capabilities of our search dogs.

We are profoundly grateful for the community’s overwhelming support and desire to assist in this effort. At this critical juncture, the most valuable contribution the public can make is to respect the trail restrictions until search operations conclude.

Emergency services are actively searching for Mr. Lancelot Hassell, who was last seen on the Sulfur Mine trail at approximately 12:00 p.m. yesterday.

Areas Already Searched:

  • Sulfur Mine trail
  • All Too Far trail
  • Sandy Cruz trail

IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED

If you have seen Mr. Hassell today, please call 911 immediately and provide:

  • Location where you saw him
  • Time of sighting
  • Any other relevant details

HOW THE PUBLIC CAN HELP

DO NOT attempt independent searches. For everyone’s safety:

  • Do not search alone or in groups
  • Do not venture out in darkness
  • Wait for coordinated search efforts

To assist with today’s search:

  • Meet at the Airport at 6:00 a.m.
  • Join the coordinated search efforts
  • Follow emergency services direction
