Residents of Saba can anticipate a refreshed and welcoming atmosphere around the Administration Building of the Public Entity Saba, as a beautification project is set to transform the area. Scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2025, initial improvements will begin before the end of this year.
The project will be executed in phases, focusing on enhancing the main pathway, introducing a pergola adorned with flowering creepers at the entrance, and creating a meandering path with shaded benches to make the lawn area more accessible. A central open space will also be preserved to host events, such as Saba Day. A key aspect of the project is the planting of trees and vibrant flowers to foster an environment that supports bees and other essential pollinators, promoting biodiversity.
Native trees and plants, including the Black-eyed Susan, West Indian almond tree, pink trumpet tree, and various mango trees, will be planted to enhance the natural beauty and provide much-needed shade. A new pond, designed with plants to protect fish and a birdbath to attract local wildlife, will add to the serene environment. Additional benches, along with larger trees and pergolas, will offer shaded spots for relaxation throughout the day. Stone paving will also be incorporated to elevate the overall appeal of the existing pathways.
Through this initiative, the Public Entity Saba aims to create a permanent, inviting space that encourages residents not only to visit the main government building but also to gather, relax, and appreciate nature, all while promoting biodiversity.
