• From Gersh on 2025 Schedule Waste collection

I’m still awaiting a replacement black bin requested over 6 months ago – so I’m not really interested in the ‘Black Bin Cycle”.

  • From Cris Hassell on Island Governor Jonathan Johnson addresses Saba residents

I must Also add to the
Honorable Lt. Governor J.A. Johnson message as great as it is in it’s entirety; to all wonderful Sabans and wonderful people living on Saba: That he Is inequivocably right when he states that historically Sabans of the past survived with less. I will like to remind Sabans and other people also from other countries who also form part of the community of Saba: “Do not forget to be grateful to GOD the Creator of All; He and His goodness will guide you and bless You in every part!” as it states in the Saban Anthem. In this New Year 2025; together we stand as one people and there is much more greater good that we can accomplish for one another by standing together, supporting each other and most of all respecting, building up each other and not knocking other down.

Happy New Year 2025!!! GOD Bless the wonderful people living on Saba!!!

    Is it really needed?

  • From Cris Hassell on Lessons learned when moving from Rotterdam to the Caribbean

Great reading! Dr. Michelle van Tongerloo her experiences living on the island of Statia coming from Europe, the Netherlands! I was able to sense her openess from her bird’s-eye point of view of the Statia people. I was very curious to know how She would describe her life as a small island Doctor on St. Eustatius.

  • From Concerned parent on Sacred Heart School socially unsafe for Students and Teachers

We should be informed of what the safety concerns are exactly. Every article about the school is so vague. Students should be tested to see if the level of education is up to par with other countries and based on those results, an improvement plan should be made.

  • From Malick on Senate approves BES tax changes

I am trying to understand this…So in paragrath 3, if your annual income exceeds $51,250. then you will be taxed 35.4% ? Is this correct?

  • From Capt. Jack Sparrow on Sacred Heart School socially unsafe for Students and Teachers

This article said a whole lot and yet said absolutely nothing. The only thing that made any sense was that there are financial problems and administrative failures. What exactly are the “safety” problems ?

  • From Christine Meyer on Most immigrants to Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius leave within seven years

I wrote to the CBS about the stats for Saba Immigration. Who ever wrote the article reflected to mention Sabas student population

    This is their response:

    Dear Christine Meyer,

Thank you for your question. This is indeed true: the figures include migrant students.

Hoping to have informed you sufficiently with this.

    Kind regards,
    Laura Team Infoservice, CBS
We have been happy to help you.

  • From Maria Christina Sarmiento Firme on Most immigrants to Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius leave within seven years

A separate different anaylsis could have been done for Saba.
Saba has the only Caribbean medical school that met the standards of European accreditation. If SUSOM students’ stay are included in the report, which most likely happened here, then data for Saba may have been interpreted wrongly.

Between 300-500 medical students came in and left (of course) after 1 or 2 years !!!
