Rescue Mission of Mr. Lancelot Hasell Successful

The Public Entity Saba (PES) is pleased to announce the successful rescue of Mr. Lancelot Hasell, who had been missing for three days after hiking the Sulphur Mine Trail.

Emergency services are waiting for Mr. Lancelot.

At 4:30 p.m. today, Mr. Hasell was located by a National Helicopters aircraft in the North Coast Trail area. Marine personnel immediately responded to his location, providing medical stabilization before escorting him to Wells Bay. The rescue operation concluded at approximately 8:30 p.m., with Mr. Hasell subsequently being transported to the hospital for medical evaluation. Medical personnel report he is in good condition considering his ordeal.

Timeline of Events

Mr. Hasell was reported missing on August 9 after failing to return from the Sulphur Mine Trail, which he had entered at noon that day. The Central Control Room received the missing person report at approximately 4:00 p.m., prompting immediate mobilization of emergency response teams.

The comprehensive three-day search operation utilized multiple resources including aerial drones, marine vessels, specially trained search dogs, and various specialized equipment. The deployment of helicopter assets proved instrumental in narrowing the search parameters and ultimately locating Mr. Hasell.

Community Response

“We are profoundly grateful for the exceptional coordination, dedication, and determination demonstrated by every member of our emergency response teams and volunteers throughout this operation,” said Acting Governor Amelia Nicholson. “Seeing Mr. Hasell safely reunited with his family brings us tremendous relief and joy.”

PES extends its sincere appreciation to all participating organizations and individuals, including the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard, Marines, National Helicopters, emergency services personnel, and the numerous volunteers who contributed their time and expertise to the search effort.

The organization also thanks the community for their patience and continued confidence in emergency response capabilities during this operation.

    Glad this ended well. I was 57 years old and in decent shape and couldn’t even finish a climb to the top of the mountain back in 2019 !
