Seniors from the sister island of Saba will be visiting Statia over the weekend as part of the SabaStatia Elderly Exchange 2026, taking place from October 17th to 20th. The organisers are the Social Support Unit Statia, the Family Support Coordinator Statia, the Strong Roots Foundation Saba, Youth Internship Statia, the Department of Culture and Events Statia, and the Statia Public Health Department. The visit follows last year’s exchange, when seniors from Statia travelled to Saba in October 2025.
Under the theme “Bridging Islands — Celebrating Our Elders,” this year’s exchange will feature a variety of social and cultural activities aimed at promoting togetherness, celebrating the islands’ shared heritage, and strengthening the connection between seniors from both islands.
Some of the activities the seniors will take part in over the four-day period are island tours, dinners, social and cultural activities, story and history conversations, skits, interviews, and many more engagements. The main venue will be the Charles Arnaud Playground. Seniors and interested persons on both islands can still sign up to take part in the event by calling 318-2555 or 318-4837.
The organisers are looking forward to welcoming the visitors from Saba and celebrating another meaningful chapter in this wonderful exchange between the two islands.
