  • From Respect Children on Opinion: Manage noise nuisance on Friday and Saturday nights in Windwardside

There are children who are being forced to hear the open air bar noise at night. That is child abuse and needs to stop now. The homes of the children in Windwardside because of the climate in the village must be able to have open windows at night as needed to keep mold levels down to protect their health and possessions. There is a chronic and increasingly severe affordable housing shortage on the island and these open air bars render portions if not all of a number of neighbors’ homes unusable as homes at night and thus damage lives. Affected families deserve substantial financial compensation for that chronic damage to their lives by these open air noise bars. Karaoke or other loud music businesses belong indoors with sound proofing when the establishment is in earshot of peoples’ homes.

  • From Another affected neighbor on Opinion: Manage noise nuisance on Friday and Saturday nights in Windwardside

The volume, especially the bass, is too loud for the location and its being open air even with a license. Zanzibar, another open air bar with loud music in the heart of Windwardside, is also way too loud for its location and is as is Hideaway a chronic nuisance to a number of its neighbors. If a business is a public nuisance it may not operate even with a license.

  • From Anonymous on Opinion: Manage noise nuisance on Friday and Saturday nights in Windwardside

Honestly disagree with this post completely. We live in 2026….

First of all, the business goes through its legal processes, hence the reason it’s been in operation since…

If the issue with music is so concerning, why don’t you get, the writer, purchase sound proof windows/doors/ and soundproof the walls.

Unless your old aged and unable to partake in such activities, which I am positive, when you were younger you did(unless you were an outcast), I don’t see the issue with this.

You all complain that there’s nothing to do on Saba, but when people(both young and old) actually try to do something within the community to keep the majority of us engaged and not off doing some that gives Saba a bad reputation, it’s a problem….

Please get off your high horse….the world doesn’t revolve around you folks. And plus if you’re older you should have money, just soundproof your house ffs…

There’s usually governors, officers, and other government officials and higher ups who also attend the parties and it’s never been an issue.

Unfortunately you are in the Caribbean first of all, not a private resort, and though people make a joke about Saba being a retirement island, it is surely made up majority(atleast 75%) of young people.

The same young people you need services from….so please get off the high horse, you’re complaining about 2 days in the week… just 2 days.

Jeez yall need drink some tea and stop the coffee because as far as I am concerned with your post: “YOU WANT EVERYDAY TO GO HOW YOU WANT”

That is not how life works and yall are big and grown, so it don’t make sense to say grow up but I will, please grow up and soundproof your house…. Same for everyone who agreees with you…

  • From Capt Jack Sparrow on Record sargassum belt bearing down, Caribbean in for heavy mid-year impact

Just saw a You Tube video about how the Sargassum seaweed can be used when mixed with sand and clay to make very sturdy building bricks. They have a better heat dissipation than concrete blocks. When life hands you lemons…..make building blocks.

  • From Stacy Dhein on Discrimination cases can be heard locally on Bonaire, Statia, Saba starting January

Please give exact directions. A swollen hernia I have is threatening, My Basel Cell Carcinoma Cancer is a year and 3 months old . Multidisciplinary Ehlers-Danlos surgery is protocal. I am told it doesn’t exist for me. By surgeons. By Insurance people in responcable positions. Rediculous. ECHO project is available to all the world to teach Doctors about their patients by just logging in. I hope to be alive to be part of bringing this to the islands. Thousands of people are Ehlers-Danlos Hypermobile and other types. Their are 12 more types. Race or gender don’t matter. All humans are the same to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. And I by the way. Thank you for bringing the humanity back to me, a patient out of hope., ,The human spirit still drives me. Last week i had followed emergency procedures. If specialist dont refer proto call go to the people in your Insurance company. To be responsible for their residents so it was me showing up to beg at ZJCN for emergency evacuation. Bold desperate. And still told I have to pay. Its not believable in a civiliized society. Thank you for pulling the dignity up where all belong.

  • From Spanky McFarland on Police report of Wednesday, the 14th of January until Friday, the 16th of January 2026

Look up AB 2022 No. 03 – Traffic Ordinance on the Saba Government website. It is a draft from 2022, no signatures, no stamp, nothing. That would call into question whether these traffic stops/inspections are legal?

  • From Gantt on Opinion: Winair passengers pay $415 for a 12 min flight Saba - SXM. No surprise Winair Reports Strong Growth

    I just looked at a SXM/SAB roundtrip for 15-22 FEB on fairly “open” flights. Base fare $215. Taxs 4.00 + 13.97 + 43.26 for a total of $276.23

You think you’ve got it bad, look at NEVIS…..We have super limited services (Cape Air St. Thomas on 9 seater and Winair 6 x from SXM on less than ideal schedule for connections north. The fares on Cape Air are CRA-ZY.

  • From A concern customer on Opinion: Winair passengers pay $415 for a 12 min flight Saba - SXM. No surprise Winair Reports Strong Growth

This has nothing to do with sint maarten airport taxes .
Depending on where you are going it can cost between 10 to 35 usd, on the winaire ticket it was 60 usd this changes depending on the time of year you are traveling, last but not least international flight can go up to 200 usd for taxes
Please fact check before coming online.

The price has everything to do with competition,
There is only one airline going to these small islands, therefore they can make their own prices and get away with it.
When an airline is the only one giving these services. They are allowed to do what they want. If there were more options to get to these islands this will not happen.
Furthermore I think that island hopping in the Caribbean should be allowed and be affordable.
I mean in Europe (London to the Netherlands) you can travel back and forth for 100 euro or less in the off seasons. The flight is one hour by the way. Why can’t this also be happening in the Caribbean,
