Rescue Mission of Mr. Lancelot Hasell Successful
Glad this ended well. I was 57 years old and in decent shape and couldn’t even finish a climb to the top of the mountain back in 2019 !

Saba Students Arrive in the Netherlands for Higher Education
CONGRATULATIONS to each of the Saba students as they work to further their education. At this point in your life there’s nothing more important that you can do to better yourselves. Congratulations to you and your parents!

Former police officer convicted for New Year's Eve violent incident on Saba (update)
For five years only? Hmm, just a slap on the wrist, imo

Focus groups start in Saba for 'Where Culture Lives' project
With regard to the “Where Culture Lives” survey, I hope one or more respondents pointed out that we rarely, if ever, get a visiting classical music quartet or small orchestra. Live music is so important for a peaceful culture. We do not get any dance groups, either. I am retired from Boston Repetory Ballet and the absence of dance companies is particularly sad for me. I have asked the Netherlands Danse theatre and the Royal Dutch Ballet to appear at the Community Center in Windwardside and I hear ‘crickets.'(nothing)

Saba Carnival 2025: Walk-Through Security Scanners Now in Operation
This is almost offensive. With an island that has virtually zero crime – treating an event like it’s a security threat is off putting to say the least. Takes the fun out of it for sure. I’d rather stay home than support an action that makes Saba appear unsafe – which is exactly what this does.

Caribbean Netherlands Youth Survey Reveals Gender Gap in Bullying
I have been thinking of moving to Saba. It is disheartening to know that this degree of bullying exists. There is a notion, based I believe in fact, that hurt people tend to hurt others. The banner becomes: “Hurt people, hurt people.” I wonder if posting that in schools would make sense. People who hurt others do NOT LIKE to be considered as hurt themselves. Best to all of you. Opinion: Urgent Need for Proper Loading Ramps for Wheelchair Access on All Winair Aircraft
We totally agree with this opinion. My wife and me had fractured ankles. I was transported to St. Maarten Medical Center by helicopter because of the fractured ankle and internal bleeding but my wife had to do the almost impossible task of boarding and departing with a fractured ankle on a WinAir flight to join me in St. Maarten. She was able to do this with tremendous assistance from the WinAir flight crew and ground personnel. They were friendly and helpful. But, there must be a better way for handicapped passengers to board and deplane WinAir flights.
