• From Radio Rich on Sale of tobacco and related products to minors prohibited on Saba

I smoked cigarettes for many years, I then used vaping in a way to get off cigarettes which was very effective. However I found vaping to be highly highly addictive and my nicotine intake was much higher. Vaping especially disposable ones is an epidemic of huge proportions. The percentage of young children getting hooked is scarily high. I’ve met heroine addicts in the past that said getting off nicotine was harder that kicking heroine – let that sink in!!!!

  • From Cris Hassell on Emancipation Day Message Saba from Island Council member Rolando Wilson

It is good see a WIPM Councilman commenting on Emancipation Day, on Small Saba! Now I would like to see that we may put this essay in practice in todays World of what I call: “Silent Racism”all over the World. We need another Martin Luth King and another Bob Marley! They did not just speak but were fierful Activists! All people, lovers of Justice and Equality must continue to fight Racism!

“For more than 200 years Africa was raped and plundered, a native kingdom disorganized, the people and their rulers demoralized and throughout slavery the Negro slaves were treated in a very inhuman form.” The fates of Black people everywhere are intertwined, King argued. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Happy Emancipation Day to All Descendants of Africa!!! We are a Strong Proud Beautiful Race! in the Dutch Kingdom and in the entire New World!! God Bless us All!

  • Kees Jansen

From Kees Jansen on Next stage of the Implementation of the new Traffic Ordinance is at hand

That is great news for an island where there is one curvy road of some 8 miles long.

Booster seats for children are a great idea, in particular as they are not available on the island and need to be imported from Europe or the US. So parents, leave your kids at home and never let them travel in the school busses anymore.

But there is good news for the racers: The maximum speed on the road and within the villages has been increased by 50%. This increases the risks of accidents and physical harm significantly, but Saba Cares ensures that there is a good helicopter service to the hospital in St. Maarten.

    Nothing to worry about.

We wish that we could have been on Saba for this. It’s certainly no surprise that Father Zibi and Island Governor Johnson spoke eloquently. They always do!
