The PEP Party has the Right solely to send it’s Party Leader to lead in the island Council. It sounds like someone is dubiously afraid of Hemmie Van Xanten!!! Let PEP handle it’s own affairs!!!

Voting Bureau approves reports polling stations
The votes have been counted, the results are known and the law then determines which candidates will receive a council seat.
In the case of PEP, it is very unreasonable that Simmons, J.J. with the amount of votes he received, is not one of them.
It would be to PEP’s credit if they changed that and gave Simmons the second council seat.
This can be achieved when, successively, Van Xanten, Holm, Every and Thielman decline a nomination, Simmons is then the next to be appointed.
It is that simple.

The combination of both is prohibited.

The law does permit her to take a leave of absence from her civil servant job. She does not have to resign her job.

Could olive trees grow decently at lower altitudes on Saba with low maintenance once the initial period of needing to water and otherwise care intensively for the olive trees has passed?
If so, how can Saba get seeds or saplings free of invasive insects to get olive trees growing on Saba?
Could okra grow decently near the new trees once the trees (whichever type of trees that might be) get going and provide enough soil and moisture around them?
Can goats be trained from a young age to eat coralita leaves and flowers?

Lisa, Olive trees grow in sandy loam soil, which is what is mostly 12″ under the ground on Saba. However, there is no nitrogen and way too much potassium in the soil, so you will need to add nitrogen with no phosphorus or potassium in it, like a 15-0-0 straight mixture on the bag. Thank you so much Jim for this information! Maybe pulses such as red lentils or chickpeas might work to input nitrogen and extract potassium and provide local non-animal protein. If anyone has grown pulses with good luck on Saba I’d like to hear what works and what doesn’t.

Appointment permanent notary for Saba, Statia in the making
Each island needs a permanent notary as the current notary is so overwhelmed with work, cases cannot be addressed in a timely manner. Months go by before the notary can even see a client and then even longer before she can handle the case, which makes it close to a year before anything can be done. Not acceptable. She also is so busy she can’t even answer emails or phone calls. Very unprofessional. Either another notary needs to be appointed to assist her or each island needs their own notary. As is, this is only a slight better improvement than our previous situation of no notary. No one should have to wait a year or more to have notarial services provided.

I totally agree with the statement above and have heard from many that this is now the case.
I agree that we need our own Notary per small island as the work must be a bit over-whelming for a single notary!
Or…allow us again to use SXM notary’s..(We loved all our dealings & workings with Ms. Mingo and things were handled in a fashionable and timely manner with her office as well.)
Saba has so many old documents and old issues to be sorted out that it must be profusely hard to handle all of our-issues here, on top of another island with some of the same ole issues at hand to deal with there as well!

And what about the “goat removal project”? Goats eat the produce from the gardens. But the Goat Removal Project” is on hold already for several months. What happened with the financing for this project from The Hague?
This seems a typical action from a hypocritical government ahead of Election Day: support some selected residents and to hell with the others.
Great initiative to feed the roaming goats. How stupid can you be?
