Short Business Description Heleen Cornet has been living for forty years in the Caribbean on several islands of the Dutch Caribbean.
Business Description - Expanded Heleen Cornet was born in Holland. She obtained a degree in education and a master’s degree in fine arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Amersfoort (Holland). After having lived for a couple of years in Norway she moved in 1975 to Bonaire (Neth. Antilles). There she taught fine arts at the high school for five years. After living for one year in Curacao and St. Maarten she moved in 1986 to Saba were she has been an art teacher at the Saba Comprehensive School. Together with her husband Tom van‘t Hof and family she has made Saba her residence ever since.
Heleen published several books together with her husband marine biologist Tom van‘t Hof for the marine parks of Bonaire, Curacao and Saba for which she did the illustrations. The books Saban Cottages and Echoes of the Past are illustrated with watercolors of the picturesque historical houses on the Caribbean islands Saba and Sint Eustatius.

Heleen could be found regularly on the top of Mount Scenery were she made drawings of the dramatic rain forest. She camped on the mountain for more than four weeks. These drawings have resulted in big oil and watercolor on canvas paintings. Lately she made a series of gold leaf paintings. A new medium.
Heleen also did a mural in the Sacred Heart Church in The Bottom on Saba, combining rainforest scenes with religious symbols.
Heleen also participated in several prestigious world exhibitions, providing rainforest installations for Fundatie in Zwolle,
the 23rd Bienal de São Paulo, Les grandes et Les Jeunes in Paris,
and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Biennials in Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.
